The active ingredient in this product is the product: ammonium bituminosulphonate, a product of natural origin, known as as a remedy for treatment of different skin diseases. This active ingredient and the term Ichthammol are used synonymously. These products are sometimes called "black ointments", or "drawing salves". Ichthammol's dermatological action was promoted by a German physician years ago.
